Build cohorts and find power users

Save an audience by what people did, size it, use it as a filter and list your most active profiles.

Cohorts are saved audience definitions built from identified profiles. Membership is evaluated when you ask for it and is never stored.

  1. In Site settings → General, enable profiles, then identify users from your site.

  2. Open Cohorts and select New cohort.

  3. Enter a Name of 1 to 80 characters. Set People match to All conditions or Any condition, and set Window (days) from 1 to 90.

  4. Select Add condition and pick a Type: Did a custom event, Viewed a page, Event with a property value, Activity level, First seen or Last seen. Use Did not (invert this condition) to exclude people. A cohort holds up to 10 conditions.

  5. Select Evaluate to see Matching profiles and a list of Sample members, then select Save cohort.

  6. On a saved cohort, use Evaluate, Use as filter (applies it to the dashboard), edit, duplicate or delete.

What you should see: the Result panel shows the cohort size. Counting stops at 100,000 matching profiles.

  1. Open the Power users tab.

  2. Set Rank by to sessions or events and choose a threshold under At least.

  3. Read the ranked profiles in the selected date range, or select Save as cohort to keep the definition.

Deleting a cohort makes saved dashboard links that use it match no one.
