Migrate from Google Analytics 4
Import a GA4 report CSV into one Supermetry site, with a preview and undo.
Upload a GA4 report exported as CSV to add its aggregate history to a Supermetry site. Nothing is stored until you confirm the preview.
-
In GA4, export a report as CSV from the Data API, Reports or Explore, or export a BigQuery-style table. Lines that start with
#are ignored. -
Check the file has a
Date(orevent_date) column asYYYYMMDDorYYYY-MM-DD, and at least one ofActive users,Sessions,ViewsorEvent count. Optional breakdown columns are page path, landing page, session source, country, region, city, device category, browser, operating system and event name. -
In Supermetry, open the target site and select Settings → Imports & export. Only owners and admins can import.
-
Choose Google Analytics 4 (CSV), select the file, and select Preview import.
-
Read the preview: rows accepted, rows skipped (with row numbers, first 20 shown), duplicate rows ignored, days covered, date range, totals and the breakdowns found.
-
Select Confirm import. The import runs in the background and its status moves to Completed.
What you should see: the history lists the file as Completed with its date range, and imported days appear in supported dashboard totals and breakdowns.
How the data is read
Section titled “How the data is read”- GA4 dates are already calendar days in the property’s time zone, so no time zone conversion is applied.
- A file with only a date and metrics gives exact daily totals. With breakdown columns, only additive metrics reach the daily totals: views always, sessions only when there is no page column. For exact daily visitors, also upload a date-only report.
- Bounce rate and average session duration are turned into bounced sessions and total visit time.
- GA4’s automatic events (
page_view,session_start,first_visit,user_engagement) are not imported as custom events. - Exact duplicate rows inside one file are ignored and counted. Invalid rows are skipped and reported.
Overlap, undo and limits
Section titled “Overlap, undo and limits”- The newest completed import wins for each day. Live tracking data always wins, so imported numbers never replace a day Supermetry tracked itself. Re-importing an overlapping range does not double count.
- If you upload the exact same file again, the preview says when it was imported; confirming replaces that import.
- Select Undo in the history to remove an imported batch. Live data is not affected.
- Limits: 512 MB per upload, 3,000,000 rows, and 2,000,000 distinct day and value combinations.
